World rocked by nearly a quarter-century of pure, undiluted awesomeness

While most of Earth's 6 billion inhabitants don't know how lucky they are to exist in a world that contains her, they may one day discover her Mur-aculousness when she directs the future Oscar winning documentary French and Fabulous and writes the self-help guide Everything I Needed To Know About Life I Learned by Lip Syncing to the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack in My Pool.

Hugs, high-twenty-fours, and pieces of poorly drawn cake. I miss you, Mur.

Despite severe hazing, I survived the Veltman clan

Sure, they look friendly - benevolent smiles all around - but spend an evening with them, and they'll pester you about all manner of things, from your photographic (in)abilities to your beverage choice. It's the Veltman way.

Hey, it's the Joobie way too! No wonder I fit in so well with all of them. I had a nice Thanksgiving, even if I missed Phil's sweet potatoes, Mom's stuffing, Grandma's good cheer and Sar's holiday mocking.

And if you didn't believe me about my work-related turkey, check out the AdSense blog's Thanksgiving post.

Believe it or not, I created this for work

And isn't it fabulous? (Understand that by "fabulous" I mean "looks like something Edith Head's puke designed".)

Happy Turkey Day! Get stuffed.

(What? I'm talking to the turkeys! Hee.)

9% grit, 47% wit...hmm...44% bullshit?

Katharine Hepburn
You scored 9% grit, 47% wit, 38% flair, and 9% class!

You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.

Moo's and evil marshmallow men

Let's face it: when you're a small fry, you're going to look adorable in your Halloween costume, pretty much no matter what it is. Extra points, however, if your costume is cute on its own or if the face paint involved renders you positively cherubic.

Adults, on the other hand, have it a bit harder.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't describe this surly fellow as 'adorable.' Then again, 'adorable' probably wasn't what Veltman had in mind. Maybe...sinister? Malevolent? Pufftastic? Destructalicious?

Let me know how you'd describe my costumed beau, and who you think carved which pumpkin below.

Apparently I have untapped mechanical skills.

You scored as Kaylee (Kaywinnet Lee) Frye. The Mechanic. You are a natural mechanic, and you are far too sweet and cheerful to live out here. How you can see the good in everyone around you boggles the mind occasionally. Still you don't seem to be any crazier than that, and it is a nice kinda crazy.

Which Serenity character are you?

All Time Top Five (subject to change on a whim)

In the great tradition of High Fidelity, I've been thinking about my top five songs of all time. All time, being, of course, the past 23 years, which really isn't very long, especially in terms of geological time, so I really have no business whatsoever in making a list of this sort, but we all know lists of these sorts are completely at the mercy of personal preference, so I will give it a shot. Whew.

After the first one, the order is pretty flexible.

In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel (liked it before ...Say Anything)
Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead O'Connor
Strong Enough - Sheryl Crow (just don't ask me to sing it karaoke)
Nature Boy (instrumental) - Stephane Grapelli
The Heart Asks Pleasure First (The Piano Theme) - Michael Nyman

And since I can't make a decision to save my life, how 'bout I round it out to a full ten?

Sleep to Dream - Fiona Apple
Tu Trouveras - Natasha St Pier (thanks, Murielle!)
Everlong - Foo Fighters (Dave Letterman's favorite!)
The Scientist - Coldplay
God Give Me Strength - Kristen Vigard (from Grace of My Heart)

And sometimes, if I'm in the right mood, I'll absolutely dig:

Closer - Nine Inch Nails
Sere Nere - Tiziano Ferro
The Power of Goodbye - Madonna
On Your Porch - The Format
Let's Stay Together - Al Green

What else do I like? What do you like? Tell me what I'm forgetting. I feel like I need some booty-shakers, but they just aren't coming to mind...
